Bright Angel Campground is the most used campground in the Grand Canyon. Located just below Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel is next to the creek of the same name. Bright Angel Creek offers rainbow trout fishing and just 1/2 mile downstream is the Colorado River. The trout in the Colorado are some of the largest in Arizona.

33 campgrounds are available and nearby are the following amenities; a phone, picnic tables and a cantina at Phantom Ranch. Think ahead and make reservations for a great meal at Phanton Ranch. To camp below the rim of the Grand Canyon you must obtain a backcountry permit. You can get permit information here:

There are three primary trails leading to Bright Angel Campground, the South Kaibab Trail, The Bright Angel Trail or the North Kaibab Trail. The South Kaibab Trail begins just south of Yaki point 2.5 miles east of Grand Canyon Village. The Bright Angel Trail begins in Grand Canyon Village. The North Kaibab Trail begins across the street from the ranger station at the North Rim.
